How to tell your story (even if you don’t have time)

It almost seems like a fact of life at this point:

The ones with the best stories are usually the ones with the least time to tell them.

Smart people are (increasingly) insights-rich and time-poor.

Especially in the digital world where an hour can feel like a lifetime, a lot of the “game” for businesses (and their founders, executives, investors, etc.) is staying relevant, everywhere, all the time, forever.

The problem is, the most knowledgeable people in every industry usually are also the people with the least amount of time.

Over the past year, I’ve noticed a recurring theme:

I’ve sat across from founders, executives, and investors—people with insights powerful enough to shape entire industries. These are the people who have fascinating, game-changing stories to share. Yet, they’re often the quietest online.

It’s not because they have nothing valuable to say.

It’s because they’re insight-rich but time-poor.

Today’s digital world demands constant presence:

  • Always online.
  • Always sharing insights.
  • Always telling stories.

There’s relentless pressure to stay relevant, visible, and active. But the most insightful minds—the very people who could elevate the conversation—often remain silent.

Not because they don’t want to contribute.

But because they lack the time, systems, and support to turn their sharp thinking into equally sharp content.

The tragedy? The best ideas rarely come from the loudest voices. They come from those who are often too busy doing the meaningful work behind the scenes to regularly post about it.

So, how can you bridge that gap? How do you show up consistently, authentically, and powerfully—without burning out?

Here are 4 actionable strategies that have helped me and many of my busy clients:

1. Clarify Your Positioning

This isn’t about crafting elaborate brand guidelines or a complex personal branding strategy.

It’s simple:

  • Decide who you want to be seen as.
  • Define who you need to be seen as, by the people you aim to influence.

This clarity provides a framework, turning scattered thoughts into stories with a clear and resonant spine.

2. Capture Ideas in the Moment

The best content rarely appears when staring at a blank page.

Great ideas happen spontaneously—in meetings, calls, casual conversations, even commutes. Have a frictionless system to capture them instantly:

  • Use Apple Notes, Notion, or voice memos.
  • Jot down fleeting thoughts and observations immediately.

Your everyday experiences, frustrations, and small victories contain the seeds of compelling content. Capture them in real-time, and you’ll always have a well of ideas ready.

3. Never Start from Scratch

The blank page is your enemy.

Instead, adopt a set of proven frameworks that quickly turn captured ideas into structured content:

  • Problem → Shift → Solution: Define an issue, offer a new perspective, and then provide a clear answer.
  • Myth → Truth: Challenge a common belief and replace it with something deeper and more valuable.
  • Before → After → Bridge: Show a transformation clearly—what things were like before, how they’re improved after, and how you bridged that gap.

When you’re short on time, a simple framework removes the paralysis of deciding “where to start.”

4. Batch Your Content Like Deep Work

Create dedicated time blocks for content creation:

  • Set a strict 60-minute timer.
  • Aim to draft 2–3 concise posts or ideas.
  • Schedule them ahead of time (use tools like Buffer or LinkedIn scheduling).

You don’t need to be omnipresent. You just need to show up consistently. Posting valuable content once or twice a week will always outperform sporadic or impulsive posting.

Remember: The most impactful stories aren’t the loudest.

They’re the ones told with clarity, consistency, and conviction—even if they’re shared less frequently.

Busy shouldn’t mean silent.

Take control of your storytelling, share your insights, and make your mark on the digital conversation.
